Bournemouth PDSW

And so the journey begins…

Thinking time by the beach…

You can find a quiet room to sit and write, with a desk, some natural light, a heater, wifi connection etc.

But to contemplate making movement, envisage work that needs space, to dance around to loud music, to speak out loud and hear yourself resonate in a space, to make a mess, to play with ‘stuff’ in space, to improvise and ┬ádevelop a devising process with all the materials you want to use… to do all this and more, you need someone to give you a studio, a blank canvas and say ‘now do what you do in it’.

It’s so simple. But these conditions can be hard to find in Brighton. So I’m in Bournemouth, brilliant! And I ┬ácan begin to believe I can actually practise my profession and look towards making a piece of art.

So thanks to Pavilion Dance South West for giving an artist a home for a week!

And anyone who wants to join me for an ideas sharing and cuppa tea/chat this Friday 2-3pm, your presence would be very welcome and appreciated.
